My family of origin is the source of my love for singing.  As a toddler, I would create little songs to sing in my car seat.  I went to my paternal grandparents’ house every week with my parents and brothers, and after dinner, the whole family harmonized on songs from my grandparents’ era—“Wait 'Til The Sun Shines Nelly,” “Put on Your Old Grey Bonnet,” “Down by the Old Mill Stream,” and more.  The heartfelt harmonies made me fall in love with singing.

Growing up in Santa Monica, I had the blessing of advanced choral instruction as a child singing with an adult church choir.  There I had my first opportunity to perform in a leading vocal role for a church musical production.  When I moved from Santa Monica to Pacific Grove, I participated in high school choirs.

My  passion  for  song  rose  dramatically while  backpacking  throughout  Europe  in 2000.  From the moment I landed in Rome, I was full of song.  I  sang  to  fellow  backpackers,  to  the  moon,  in cathedrals, and in piazzas.  In  Switzerland,  I  literally sang  for my supper, and lodging, every night of my stay.  In a Lyon, France hostel, I sang all through the night, until sunrise, with other travelers. I also busked on the streets of Köln, Germany.

Back from my travels, I had a new enthusiasm for continuing to

explore music.  Now a college student, I joined choirs under the inspiring conductor Sal Ferrantelli and took voice training with Dr. Ferrantelli and the remarkable David Gordon.

On a solitary vision quest in the wilderness, I experienced a calling to use my voice for healing, perhaps in hospice settings and the like.  I remain open to how this may unfold, and to date, take delight in the responses to my singing that indicate my music has touched individuals positively and deeply.

For the past three years, I have been singing Celtic music with harpist Amy Krupski, my mentor in this genre.  Amy began including me in many of her booked performances, including the annual Celtic Christmas, First Night Monterey, the Aromas Celtic Festival, and the Hidden Valley Center’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities. I sing at intimate gatherings, such as house concerts, and for private celebrations, including weddings.  My public vocal performances have included Celtic, folk, jazz, and original compositions, with favorite public venues ranging from Monterey Live, a popular Alvarado Street concert club, to the KUSP-88.9 FM Santa Cruz studios, for the “Open Road” show.
